let's face it: summer hasn't really begun here in the pacific northwest. and the dull weather we've been experiencing sort of put a damper (pun intended) on our festive fourth. of course, with the holiday falling on sunday this year, we were planning to be a bit more low key anyway.
we ended up having a picnic inside --which summer LOVED, lighting a few sparklers -- also a very favorite activity of summer's (afton, again, is proving to be a bit more difficult to please), and roasting marshmallows for s'mores over our gas stove -- no surprises there, summer was a big, big fan.
to top it all off, we fell asleep to the sweet lullaby of neighborhood fireworks bursting in the air.
